Coronavirus FAQs

Why did Dart Bank temporarily close their lobbies on Saturday?

The decision to close our lobbies on Saturdays was due to the fact that we “share” employees to different locations, to allow all front line employees to have more Saturdays off to enjoy their families and friends.   As part of our precautions we are taking in the Coronavirus environment, we are no longer “sharing” employees between locations.   We believe this will lessen the number of employees that could be affected by this virus.   Keeping our Drive-Thru’s open allow us to continue to service our customers on Saturdays.

Some financial institutions are limiting service to only their drive-thru service.  Will Dart Bank also limit services?

There is no plan at this time to close lobby service, but it will be considered if necessary.  If a customer chooses to visit a Dart Bank office, please instruct them to maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet between staff and other customers whenever possible.  We are strongly encouraging our customers to use mobile, online and telephone banking whenever possible. Please also keep in mind that we have night drop locations at all of our banking locations for check deposits and loan payments.

Some of you may experience financial hardships directly tied to the pandemic.  Will Dart Bank consider any financial assistance?

As we have done in the past, we will work individually with customers experiencing financial hardships. Any requests/situations can be directed to their Loan Officers or Office Managers.  These situations may be related to skipping a payment, late fees, reversing fees etc.  Please provide as much detail as possible so the right department can handle the situation.

What has Dart Bank done to ensure adequate cash in their offices and ATMS?

All offices have been instructed to monitor their cash supplies and increase cash orders and deliveries as necessary. We have also asked our vendor responsible for servicing our ATMS to do the same. We are not limiting cash withdrawals at this time.

Is my money on deposit safe?

While this is a global health crisis and will have financial impact, it is not a banking crisis.  Dart Bank, like most other financial institutions, is well capitalized and in a strong liquidity position. Banks are backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, up to $250,000.00. Additional coverage may be available by reviewing your account ownership titles.  Please let us review your situation and make sure you are fully covered.

What impact does the current pandemic have on my U.S. Savings Bonds?

Like your funds on deposit, U.S. Savings Bonds are backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government.  They are issued by the U.S. Treasury.  Of course, our current situation could impact future interest rates offered on these bonds.   This can be monitored at www.treasurydirect.gov. Values are determined by the month and year of purchase and variable interest rates are set by the Treasury.

How will my deposits and payments be processed if my office closes?

Fortunately, Dart Bank’s back office staff are set up for remote work.  This allows them to do most of the necessary functions from their homes, if necessary.  For example, customers can use Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) to make deposits and staff can monitor those transactions from home to accept and/or deny, just as they do if they were in the office.  Mailing in payments and deposits are also an option as well as using one of our night drops.  Dart Bank will keep appropriate staff working at our headquarters to process mail in a timely fashion.  The correct mailing address is   Dart Bank, P. O. Box 40, Mason, MI   48854.

If the bank closes the lobbies, how will I access their safe deposit box?

We will allow customers to make an appointment to access their safe deposit box.  Please call ahead to schedule this.

I do not have a cell phone or email address and only have a landline.  How will the bank keep me updated on branch closures?

You may call our main phone number for a status update.  Additionally, if have a family member, neighbor or friend that could also assist you in retrieving information online as we are keeping dartbank.com updated with the latest information.

I have a concern about germs on cash.  What can I do?

The World Health Organization advises washing hands frequently when handling money, especially if handling or eating food.

What if I need to withdraw more cash than the ITM/ATM allows and your lobby is closed?

ITM’s can handle nearly any amount of cash if used during regular Drive-Thru hours. ATM’s, and ITM’s after-hours, allow withdrawals of  $500.00 per day, based on your account balance. During business hours in a video teller session the ITM maximum withdrawal is $1,500 per day.

If the bank closes, will I still receive my social security check?

Yes, your social security check that is automatically deposited to your account each month, will continue to be automatically deposited to your account, even if the bank is closed. Employees will be working either in the office, or remotely, to make sure that payments received through our electronic systems, are deposited as they are each month.

Is the bank giving extensions on any loans/mortgages if my work shuts down?

Dart Bank recognizes that these are unique and uncertain times and that our customers may be affected in various ways. The implementation of social distancing may impact some of our customers’ ability to work. If your income is impacted, and you anticipate challenges in making your loan payments, please contact your loan officer and they will work with you on what options maybe available to assist you.

Separately, if you need help with your mortgage, you can complete a Mortgage Assistance Application and we will complete an evaluation to determine if you qualify for temporary relief, which would allow you to reduce or suspend payments for a specified period of time. We will contact you within 5 days of receipt of your application and let you know if we need any additional information or documents.
